Dithering
Usually when I sit down to write an entry into this blog, it's without knowing ahead of time what I want to say. Unsurprisingly, I don't know this time, either. But that's okay. I'm still working on getting my butt into gear to get my first self-published book out into the world. I tell myself that I'll publish it on the last day of June. The prose is all written, but I have yet to do the cover art. I'm tempted to do it all-text, as opposed to painting something. You can call that laziness. I think that if my allergies weren't plaguing me so severely these days, I'd have more motivation. The pills I take alleviate most of the symptoms but they leave me feeling kind of worn out.
And that means I don't have much spare energy for coming up with stuff to write about. I'm sick of politics, and I don't want to fill this blog with a bunch of complaints. There's enough of that going around. Besides, I'm not a pundit or a poli-sci specialist (same thing?) so I have nothing new to add to the comments that are already flying around.
I could list the books I'm reading, but no-one's going to care about that. I will say, however, that I'm still enjoying E.M. Forster's Howard's End, and am about half-way through it. Still awaiting perusal is the massive OUTWORLDS 71, the "memorial" issue put together by the friends of OW's late editor, Bill Bowers. And really do have to read it, because one of the articles therein is mine.
I also need to read and loc* PORTABLE STORAGE 5, the latest in the string of rather incredible fanzines edited by William Breiding. I can maybe put that off a little, because I will be writing a review for issue #6, as well as doing some header art -- as mentioned in one of the earlier posts for this blog.
And with that I am going to sign off, because I am not feeling all that well due to the allergies, and because supper is gonna be ready soon. With luck, by Wednesday, when the next installment of Blogging Toward Bethlehem is due, I'll be in more of a mood to write.
But before I go, one more image, another painting of mine.
Holicong Road, oil on board, circa 2003.
